Cody Simpson is hopping on his surfboard and riding the waves away from 'Dancing With the Stars.' The Aussie pop singer was sent home last night (April 14) after five weeks of intense competition and lots of support from the judges, while fellow pop star James Maslow of Big Time Rush notched a perfect score.

Boo! Hiss! That's our feeling about Simpson being voted off, even though we were happy for Maslow and his perfect dance.

As for Simpson, he danced the samba to 'I Can't Wait to Be King' with Witney Carson. The judges loved the dancing, but felt that Simpson wasn't having fun while doing what is meant to be a fun dance. Again, they said his technique could use some work, a repeat criticism, but they also felt that he brought the "now" to the samba. Sadly, it wasn't enough to keep him in the competition. Sigh.

As for Maslow, he remains in the thick of the competition, and he is really turning into a dancing superstar! He and Peta reunited, after last week's partner switch, and earned a perfect score for their contemporary dance to 'Let It Go,' the ubiquitous song from 'Frozen.' It was the first perfect score of the young season. It was deemed a "blockbuster" and romantic, as well as full of artistry and emotion, according to the judges. They did not expect such a display of artful dancing, but they got it. It was hot enough to melt the iciest of hearts. It also further fueled rumors of a James and Peta romance.

OMG, you guys, could James Maslow be on his way to being crowned Season 18 champion of 'Dancing With the Stars?' Well, a perfect score is nothing to sneeze at and isn't easy to achieve, so ...

... while we're sad to see Cody go, as was his partner Witney, who felt he didn't get enough of a chance to show himself, we're glad Maslow remains in the thick of things, representing pop music.
