Dancing with the Stars fan-favorite Derek Hough was rushed to a hospital Monday after being injured during rehearsals for the show's 10th anniversary special, an ABC spokesperson tells E! News.

The source says that Hough may have suffered a broken toe along with a severely sprained ankle with possible ligament damage. An MRI was scheduled to evaluate the severity of his ankle injury.

Hough was rehearsing a routine for the upcoming special with ex-partner Maria Menounous when he was injured. Menounous told E! News that Hough smashed his foot on a piece of equipment, then went to get ice for it when he took a fall down a flight of stairs, rolling his ankle. He was then taken to the hospital by fellow Dancing with the Stars pro Mark Ballas.

"Long night in the ER with @derekhough nothing worse than seeing a fellow dancer get hurt especially your brother," Ballas later posted on Instagram. "But he had me @bcjean & @corkyballas there by his side. #fam."
