The Byrd-Shreve rivalry on the football field is legendary, but investigators are trying to find out if one prank went too far.

Betty Virginia Park was filled with nasty signs about Byrd parents and students. Some of the signs were quite nasty. Byrd students removed the signs early Friday  While the teams squared off on the football field at Lee Hedges Stadium, you could hear fireworks going off in South Shreveport.

But a week ago a south Caddo Parish home was destroyed in a blaze that might have started as a prank.  Ken Payne says his home's been the target of the high school rivalry. Last weekend, some youngsters rolled his home and somehow the toilet paper caught fire, spreading to the garage of his luxury home. 

Part of the home on Harris Lane was destroyed. fire Sunday, Several vehicles- a Chevy Suburban, a Jeep, and a 4-wheeler were destroyed  Payne has a child who attends Shreve. Investigators are reviewing surveillance video and several Byrd students have been questioned.

At this point the cause of the fire is listed as "undetermined".

Byrd won the football game 48-7.
