Sorry, I'm late for work. There was an alligator causing a traffic jam.

This is one of the few places where that excuse actually works. Louisiana is known for wacky stories and traffic issues, but this one may take the cake. According to KTBS, an injured alligator shut down LA Highway 1 around 3:30 a.m. on Wednesday (April 19).

The 10-foot gator's tail had been run over and he was telling motorists all about it.

The Caddo Sheriff's Office dispatched to the scene near Flournoy Lucas Road. Traffic was diverted and after an hour the gator had been removed by Wildlife and Fisheries.

They estimated that he was 10-foot, 11 inches long and 400 pounds.
