Office of Motor Vehicles locations around Louisiana are expected to reopen Friday morning, a day after being unable to process transactions because of a fire at the state police data center.

State police spokesman Maj. Doug Cain said the data center fire Thursday morning shut down all automated systems at the Department of Public Safety.

The Office of Motor Vehicles has closed all of its offices across Louisiana because of a fire at the state police data center.

A State spokesman tells KEEL News there was a fire in the central data center in Baton Rouge. All of the automated systems at the Department of Public Safety have been impacted by this fire. Police are not able to process drivers license or license plate checks and no handgun permits can be handled during this temporary outage.

All OMV offices were shut down early this morning.

A contractor is now on the scene at the data center in Baton Rouge trying to make repairs so the offices can be back open later today.
