According to the Mt. Pleasant Tribune, a bus carrying the Mt. Pleasant boys track team was involved in a fatal accident with big rig and another car around 10:30 last night. Reportedly, the big truck swerved into the buses lane and sideswiped the bus.  This caused the bus to lose control and spin.  One confirmed fatality is a Mount Pleasant High School girls track team coach, Angelica Beard - who was following in the car behind the bus.  In the article,  police are quoted as saying there were multiple injuries as well as at least two fatalities, though no fatalities are believed to be students. There were several helicopters on the scene as well as police, EMS, and other emergency services trying to administer aid. The driver of the big rig's name has not been released, and is reportedly in surgery in a Tyler hospital in critical condition.

At least six other passengers are being reported as seriously injured, that includes the driver of the bus who was also a coach. They have been rushed by helicopter to a hospital in Tyler. Everyone else involved in the accident is being treated locally at Titus County Regional Medical Center before being released to parents and guardians.
