The Heritage and Harvest Tour sponsored by the Red River Crossroads Historical Association will be Saturday September 28 from 10:00 to 4:00.
The self guided driving tour begins in Shreveport on Highway 3049 (Dixie-Shreveport Road) and features homes and places of interest in the towns 3049 and Highway 71 North to Ida.
Enjoy a day in the country - corn, cotton and soybeans are being harvested. Visit a working cotton gin.
Tour homes, enjoy sitting and visiting with friends in a beautiful garden setting, enjoy music, good food at various locations on the tour – and browse and shope at vendors located at the Wild Petunia, the Shields Garden and the Hosston School.
Featured homes this year are the Volentine Home 6001 Dixie-Shreveport Road, a few miles north of Shreveport. The home was built in 1913 by the Pittmans and the Volentines have lived in the home since 1959 with their family.
The Lynn home address is 11580 Highway 3049 located north of Belcher on the Lynn Plantation. The home was built when James Cavett purchased the farm land in 1878. The dogtrot style home has been restored by Newt and Kristy Lynn in keeping with the original design.
The historic plantation commissary will also be featured with a display of Indian artifacts.
Tickets for the home tours are $ 10.00 which includes both homes and can be purchased at the homes, at the Belcher Presbyterian Church and at the Crossroads Museum in Gilliam

Hosston School – Now operated as an event venue by the Savvy Sisters.
The Wild Petunia – 408 Caddo Street in Belcher. A special events venue will offer a tea room style lunch and vendors with arts and crafts are also at this location.
Belcher Presbyterian Church Gray Street/Highway 3049 built in 1925 features the original pipe organ being played during the tour.
Shields Lawn and Garden 621 Line Street in Belcher features a beautiful lawn with time to sit and enjoy music and browse some of the vendors located under the trees.
The Veterans Memorial in Belcher honors all veterans.
Main Street Restaurant in Gilliam offers a varied menu of items for lunch and is located in a scenic country store.
Red River Crossroads Museum in Gilliam features interesting pictures and descriptions of the settling of the towns along the Red River in north Caddo Parish. An old cotton gin press is located behind the museum. Historic Site markers along the way are featured on the tour with an explanatory brochure available in the Museum.

Designs by Carol Quilt Shop Highway 71 North in Mira features quilts for sale.
Hale Grist Mill in Hosston demonstrates grinding corn into meal with samples given away.
Town of Ida Highway 71 north features the Ida Methodist church 6874 Cedar Lane built in 1904.
The Captain Fletcher E. Adams 357th Fighter Group Squadron Museum located on Magnolia Land in the original Ida Post Office built in 1923
