That's right! The next big star on Food Network could be someone from Louisiana.

Food Network is one of my go-to channels, along with E! and Bravo, and one of my favorite shows is "Food Network Star." So you can imagine how elated I was to find two Louisiana hopefuls competing for the chance of a lifetime, to host their own show on Food Network.

Loreal Gavin now lives in Indianapolis, but she proudly claims Lafayette as her hometown. She is 26 years old and has been cooking for 11 years. She a hardcore butcher too!

From FoodNetwork.com:

"A motorcycle-riding, guitar-playing chick who loves tattoos, she attended Sullivan University for culinary arts and is also trained in baking and pastry. She was raised by her grandmother, who taught her to cook from her soul. Loreal is a true individual who believes every meal should be interesting."

Christopher Lynch is 39 and from New Orleans. His looks alone makes him a frontrunner for the title. I mean, the camera loves him.

From FoodNetwork.com:

"(Christopher) graduated from the Culinary Institute of America, spent time working with some of the country’s finest restaurateurs and has become a rock star chef in his own right. Christopher carved his own food path with a modern take on the Cajun and Creole cuisine of his adopted hometown, New Orleans. He is both talented and tough in the kitchen, and that killer combination makes him a force to reckon with."

The season premiere was last Sunday. Both Christopher and Loreal made the cut. Episode two is tonight at 8 p.m. on Food Network.
