Lee Reherman, best known as "Hawk" on American Gladiators, has died at the age of 49.

The cause of death is not known, but Reherman had recently undergone hip replacement surgery and had complained of feeling unwell over the last several days.

Before joining American Gladiators, Reherman was an offensive tackle at Cornell University and later tried out for the Miami Dolphins.

After Gladiators, he pursued acting and was featured in several motion pictures, including The Last Action Hero and Star Trek Into Darkness. He also appeared on several TV shows, including The First Family, The Shield, and had just completed a role on Jane the Virgin.

Reherman is survived by his father and two brothers.
