Joanne Borgella, who competed on "American Idol" in 2008, died Saturday at the age of 32 after battling what she described as a "rare form" of cancer.

Borgella's family went to Facebook to announce the news, posting, "Her faith, courage and strength were unshaken throughout every obstacle she encountered."

The post went on to say that Borgella suffered from endometrial cancer, which attacks the lining of the womb.

Borgella made it to the Top 12 in season 7 of "American Idol".
