[UPDATE] Because of the nasty weather last weekend, the fundraiser for Haley Hooker has been rescheduled for Oct. 25.

There's a huge softball tournament and fundraiser called "Hoping and Playing for Haley" going on this weekend for a Captain Shreve High School senior battling bone cancer.

Haley Hooker was diagnosed with cancer this past April, and is being treated at St. Jude's in Memphis, Tennessee. Her aunt, Jamie Wise, says this event will help Haley's family with daily expenses and mounting medical bills.

"She's going through chemo right now. No radiation, just straight chemo," Wise said. "She goes in three weeks a month. And sometimes she gets so sick that she's basically in there for a month."

She said Haley's spirit is OK, but she's really fighting through the pain. "She's been in the hospital the last few days just because of all the pain. She's got pain in her neck, pain in her chest, pain in her back," she said. "And throughout some of these chemo treatments, she ends up with sores in her mouth. So there for a long time, she was on a TPN, which is a nutrition bag, where it feeds her in the event that she can't eat."

Wise says there are nine teams signed up to play in the tournament, and that's all they need. Where you can help out is by showing up to bid on some great silent auction items up for grabs.

"We've got a football signed by Sean Payton, we have a jersey signed by John Elway, we have a jersey signed by Brett Favre," Wise said. "Also, Magic Johnson signed a Dream Team jersey from back, I guess, when he was in the Olympics. We've got some Saints stuff."

Bounce houses will also be set up at the event, and food and beverages will be available for purchase. Everything's going on at Cargill Park off of Meriwether Saturday, starting at 8 a.m.
