Google is getting smarter, there's no doubt about that.  I'm pretty sure that if the robot / Artificial Intelligence apocalypse happens, Google will be at the middle of all it.  In the meantime, we might as well use our future overlords as much as possible to make our day-to-day life better.  One of the latest uses of the massive computing power and voluminous library of data they have accumulated somehow (wink, wink) could keep you from getting sick.

By cross referencing mentions of food poisoning, diarrhea, or a huge number of other words that might indicate a nasty food experience with geographical information - the google super-computers will soon have the ability to warn you about a restaurant with a bad gastrointestinal reputation.

Google scientists have been collaborating with the smartypants at Harvard University to roll out test programs in Chicago and Las Vegas to identify potential stomach-wrecking establishments, then sent city officials to do surprise inspections.  Not only did the software work, it worked extremely well.  By using customer complaints (the traditional method), officials found that just over 22% of inspected restaurants failed to meet health requirements.  Using the list generated by Google's new process, that number jumps to over 52%!

No word on when the feature will be available to the general public.
