Freeform (formerly ABC Family) is bringing back Greek, one of its greatest unsung television shows, for a reunion movie. Finally, a show other than Gilmore Girls that's actually worthy of a reboot.

The network announced its plans today (April 7) to begin development for the cleverly titled movie Greek: The Reunion, which will follow the original series’ characters during their five-year reunion at the fictional Ohio University, Cypress Rhodes, according to a report from Deadline.

Greek -- which aired on what was then known as ABC Family from 2007 to 2011 and has arguably one of the greatest series finales of all time -- focused on the lives of college students involved in the Greek system at Cyprus Rhodes. There’s no word yet as to which original cast members (including Clark Duke, Scott Michael Foster, Spencer Grammer, Paul James, Amber Stevens, Jacob Zachar and Jake McDormand) will join the upcoming movie, but hopefully it’s all of them.

Additional good news indicates series creator Patrick Sean Smith has signed on with Lloyd Segan and Shawn Piller to executive produce the film, which is currently slated for a holiday air-date. Happy holidays to all!

In further news, Freeform plans to develop its own version of the British drama Misfits, which will feature a group of twenty-somethings who suddenly develop superpowers after being exposed to a mysterious chemical substance. Hopefully Freeform's version of Misfits fares better than MTV's attempt at recreating the UK teen series Skins, which was canceled after its only season.
