‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ Jolts Slumping Summer Box Office With $94 Million Opening
Disney and Marvel's latest sci-fi adventure, "Guardians of the Galaxy", zapped new life into a struggling summer box office with an otherworldly $94 million in its first week, far exceeding the studio's expectations.
Last week's No. 1, "Lucy", starring Scarlett Johanssen, dropped to second place with an estimated $18.2 million, and the James Brown biopic "Get on Up" debuted in third place with $14 million.
