Here's a cat who's lived nine lives...and then some!

Guinness World Records announced that they've located a cat in Mansfield, TX named Scooter, whom they've determined is the world's oldest living cat at the ripe old age of 30!

Scooter was born on March 26, 1986, and has had the same owner, Gail Floyd, since that day.

Gail credits Scooter's longevity to staying active. “He likes to see new places and he likes people,” she says.

But it hasn't been all catnip and yarn for Scooter. He lost his mother when he was only four weeks old, and in October 2014 broke his leg and has been undergoing treatment ever since. But his vets say that “Scooter is quite an amazing cat, with a strong will to live.”

The previous record-holder was 26-year-old Corduroy of Sisters, OR. The all-time record-holder is Creme Puff of Austin, TX, who lived 38 years 3 days, twice the average life expectancy of a cat.
