High School Football This Week!!!

As you know, our morning news woman, Erin McCarty, is a huge fan of local high school athletics. Each week, she takes the time to do a run down of the upcoming games... and make her picks! Without further ado, here's Erin McCarty! Another big week for High School Football. The game I’m looking forward to the most is Airline and Neville. But I wouldn’t mind making the drive to Ruston to check out the Minden game. Here are my picks for this week:

Thursday night, Evangel wins on the road at Ouachita to get the program back on track year after a tough start against some key opponents.

North Caddo takes it’s 3-1 record on the road to Lakeview in Campti, Louisiana and the Gators are coming off a big win over Northwood to move to 2-2 on the year. I still have to take North Caddo to win this one.

Benton stays home to battle Southwood. This should be no contest with Benton getting the victory.

Calvary is on the road at Redemptorist. The Cavs got a big win on the road at Teurlings Catholic last week to move to 2-2 on the season. They get an easy win in this game in Baton Rouge.

Huntington is in Alexandria to take on Peabody. I’ll take the Raiders in this game.

The Soul Bowl is also happening this week…..this is a community event…not just a football game. It’s Green Oaks and BTW at Leonard Barnes Stadium. This one is worth seeing just for the bands. BTW wins this one leaving Green Oaks still looking for their first win of the season.

Parkway crosses the river to tackle Loyola at Messmer stadium. The Flyers are 2-2 on the season, having lost on the road at U-High in Baton Rouge…..41-14. Parkway is undefeated and I don’t expect Loyola to give the Panthers much trouble this week.

Northwood is hosting Bossier and the Falcons have been surprising teams this…..going 3-1 over the first 4 weeks. The Bearkats are also 3-1 and bring a powerful offense to Blanchard. I have to take Bossier in this big clash.

North Desoto travels to Winnfield…..counting on a surprise win for the Griffins to give Winnfield their first loss of the year.

Shreve hosts Woodlawn. The Gators get the win to move to 3-2 on the season.

Ruston hosts Minden in a big contest Friday night. The Bearcats are 2-2 after being trounced by Byrd last week. Minden also got a spanking last week, dropping to 2-2 in a lopsided game against Parkway. I have to go with Ruston in this one. Airline hosts Neville and hopes to improve on their 3-1 record. But I have to pick Neville in this one as the Tigers move to 5-0. Haughton will get an easy home win against Fair Park to stay undefeated. Byrd is off this week after kicking off the year at 4-0.
