The Shreveport Bossier Rescue Mission, the Salvation Army, Hope Connections and other groups that serve the homeless population are busy as temps drop below freezing.

Reverend Larry Otwell with the Rescue Mission tells KEEL News he has more than 170 people in his shelter now, but expects to see even more people this weekend. He says the shelter is full, but he has plenty of cots to put out to take in as many people who need to come in from the cold.

The Salvation Army is also at capacity, but will also make room for others who might need help. Hope Connections also serves meals and connects people to service they need in our community.

The shelters need things like blankets, pillows, coffee and cash donations.
