Local homeless shelters need your help as the weather starts to cool off.

Sarah Ardis with the Shreveport Bossier Rescue Mission says they need items like blankets, coats, hats and gloves. She says "once the temperature hits 35 degrees, we'll start taking in as many guests as we can and we'll even lay out cots."

Ardis adds that the Rescue Mission needs the winter items but also "extra toiletries to help with the influx of guests."
Chelsey Liegey with Hope for the Homeless says they also need blankets and other winter items. She says "it's just starting to get cold and we've already had people come in asking for blankets and we've had to turn people away because we don't really have any."
