‘Hunger Games: Mockingjay’ Tops Weekend Box Office
To no one's surprise, "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay- Part 1" was No. 1 at this weekend's box office. What was surprising, however, is that this latest entry fell rather short of its predecessors; although it was the biggest debut so far this year, managing to take in $123 million, this figure is a 22% drop from "Catching Fire", the previous film in the franchise.
"Big Hero 6" came in second with an estimated $20.1 million, and "Interstellar" took in $15.1 million, good enough for third place. Last week's No. 1, "Dumb & Dumber To", took a steep drop to fourth place with $13.8 million, while "Gone Girl" rounded out the top five with $2.8 million.
