I saw what appeared to be an incredibly inspiration ad today on Facebook for an event called Light the Sky coming to Shreveport. But after reviewing the comments, is it really? And what is it?

According their website, the Light the Sky Festival is a family friendly event and it benefits several charities in each of the cities it visits. They have an event listed for Shreveport, but there aren't any dates posted.

So what's it all about? As near as I can tell, you buy a non-refundable ticket and get a swag bag and lantern that you release into the night sky along with thousands of other participants and when you do, it's metaphorical letting go of all your doubts, fears, insecurities, etc... It's really a nice concept and I'm sure it's a sight to behold. It better be because tickets start at $35 and increase to $55 closer to the event.

If you check out the comments on the Facebook ad, some are saying that the release of lanterns of this nature is illegal in Louisiana. Is it? According to what I've been able to find, sky lanterns are illegal in the great state of Louisiana, no matter how pretty they are to look at. I guess time will tell... Of course, if you grease the right palm...
