SBC Native Jared Leto Wins Best Supporting Actor at 2014 Golden Globes
The 30 Seconds to Mars frontman won the award for Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture for his heartbreaking role as a AIDS patient in ‘Dallas Buyers Club.’ Looking dapper in a tux with his long hair pulled back into a ponytail, Leto started his speech with a bit of a revelation.
“I’d like to use this opportunity to clear up a few things,” he began. “I did not ever use any prosthetics in this film. That tiny little Brazilian bubble butt was all mine.”
Calling his role as the transgender Rayon “transformative,” he explained he had to wax his whole body, including his eyebrows. “I’m just fortunate that it wasn’t a period piece so I didn’t have to do full Brazilian … ladies, you know what I’m talking about, and so do some of you men,” he joked.
The clearly touched actor-musician got serious to end his speech. “This is incredible. I didn’t make a film for almost six years,” he said. “I was pursuing other dreams. I just have to say, it’s more than an honor to come back and have this love and this support. I never expected it. I never ever dreamed of it.”
