Jay-Z and Diddy are being recognized for their visual excellence. Today (May 3), the 2018 MTV Movie & TV Awards nominations were unveiled and hip-hop was well represented throughout. Jay-Z's Footnotes for 4:44 and Diddy's Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop: A Bad Boy Story will compete with each other in the Best Music Documentary category.

Hov delivered the Footnotes for 4:44 last summer via a series of episodes and was brutally honest when it came to the fact that his marriage with Beyoncé hasn't always been smooth sailing over the years. He enlisted a star-studded cast for a roundtable discussion on the importance of family and more. Cameos included Kendrick Lamar, Will Smith, Chris Paul, Meek Mill and Chris Rock, among others.

Diddy also delivered his Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop: A Bad Boy Story last June. The documentary examined the legacy of over two decades of his experiences running the famed Bad Boy Records. The documentary hones in on the Brooklyn stop of the 2016 Bad Boy Family Reunion Tour.

The Defiant Ones is also up for the Best Music Documentary win. The documentary, released in four parts, focuses on the partnership between Dr. Dre and record executive Jimmy Iovine in addition to their impact on the music industry.

Comedian and actress Tiffany Haddish will serve as host of the ceremony. The awards will take place and air on June 18 at 9 PM EST from the Barkar Hangar in Los Angeles.

The Black Panther leads all shows and movies with seven nominations and has several actors and scenes up for the opportunity to take home some hardware next month. Girls Trip, Freeform's Grown-ish, Love & Hip-Hop, Insecure and HBO's The Defiant Ones were also nominated for wins in various categories.
