Jessica Jones Season 2 production is theoretically underway in New York City, though the second run of Marvel’s most-wanted Defender has only made one significant casting announcement to date. Now, new reports list at least four major characters in the mix, potentially pointing toward a Daredevil villain in the process.

Mind you, Marvel is likely to come forth with official casting announcements for Jessica Jones Season 2 soon, but a new joint report from MCU Exchange and That Hashtag Show points to at least four major new roles. The names themselves are naturally made up, but rumors abound that “Ingrid” is referring to Daredevil villain Typhoid Mary, to say nothing of other potential Marvel counterparts:

[DR. KIRBY] 60s, male, open ethnicity, scientist & freethinker SERIES REGULAR – ONE YEAR DEAL

[PRESLEY] Late 30s, Male, African American, intelligent, driven, self-assured FRACTIONAL SERIES REGULAR

[OLIVER] 34-38, male, Latino, artistic, paternal, smart, scruffy and hip SERIES REGULAR

[INGRID] Early-mid 30s, 5’8 – 5’11, female, dark hair, attractive and edgy, has a history of living on the streets. Educated as a nurse, but street-wise. She is attracted to men and women…SERIES REGULAR

For the moment, only Damages and White Queen star Janet McTeer has been confirmed to join the Season 2 cast, in a role described as an “undisclosed character who will have an enormous impact on Jessica’s life.” Speculation has also placed Wil Traval’s Simpson back in the mix, given the actor’s timely arrival in New York.

Elsewhere of Jessica Jones Season 2, we know that showrunner Melissa Rosenberg has confirmed an all-female director lineup for the next 13 episodes, with True Blood and Supernatural writer Raelle Tucker joining Season 2 to replace executive producer Liz Friedman. Rosenberg has also previously spoken to the possibility of featuring multiple villains, to fill the void left by David Tennant’s Kilgrave.

We’re still awaiting formal confirmation on Jessica Jones Season 2 production, but stay tuned for the latest in the meantime.
