The nominees for the 2012 Grammy Awards were announced Wednesday night, and Kanye West came out on top with seven nominations.

Right behind West were Adele, Bruno Mars and the Foo Fighters with six nominations each, including album of the year.

Notable omissions this year included such artists as Taylor Swift and Tony Bennett, whose "Duets II" album debuted at No. 1 earlier this year, making the 85-year-old Bennett the oldest artist in chart history to do so.

One surprise was dubstep sensation Skrillex and his five nominations, including best new artist.

The 54th annual Grammys will broadcast live from Los Angeles Feb. 12 on CBS.
