A photographer who claims that Kanye West attacked him while he was trying to take West's picture at Los Angeles International Airport sued the rapper Wednesday.

The plaintiff, Daniel Ramos, says that he and several other paparrazzi were gathered on the sidewalk outside LAX July 19 when West appeared. When Ramos asked if they could talk to him, he claims West turned to him and, "without warning or provocation, suddenly attacked, punching [the plaintiff] and attempting to wrestle the camera from" his hands.

Ramos maintains that he somehow hung on to his camera, but landed on his knees "with enough force that he sustained injuries to his right hip, as well as accompanying pain and emotional distress." He was then taken to Marina Del Rey Hospital for a medical evaluation. He was later discharged with a contusion and a strained muscle.

Ramos seeks unspecified damages for allegations of battery, along with assault, negligence and interference with the exercise of civil rights.
