Kidd-Russ Luggage & Gifts has called Shreveport home since 1911. But now, that 105-year run is coming to an end.

Owner Jerry Pearson says that due to a slump in sales, the historic store will be closing its doors permanently. Pearson says that increased competition from the internet and a lack of loyal customers led to the decision to shut down.

"You can't leave your local hometown stores out of the shopping equation if you do you gonna wake up and determine that there are no more hometown store left that's what's happening around America today," he told KTBS-TV.

Kidd -Russ's parent company, Pearson's Travel World, continues to operate stores in Lafayette and Baton Rouge.
