Know the Unspoken Rules of Dog Parks Just in Time for the New Dog Park Opening Up in Shreveport

According to KTAL, the new dog park that has been set to open this past April will officially open this up coming Friday, July 14th at 5 p.m. on Clyde Fant Parkway.

I have never been to a dog park before, and I have been so excited about taking my dog to his first dog park as well. So I was thinking what are the rules?

According to Martha Stewart, there are 5 unspoken rules at dog parks:

1. Be Aware of Other Dogs
2. Have Verbal Control Over Your Dog
3. Keep A Distance When Meeting New Dogs
4. Stay With Your Dog and Keep Moving
5. Reward Good Behavior and Step In When Bad Behavior Occurs

These rules are supposed to keep your dog and other people's dogs safe. I think the most important part is just staying aware and paying attention to your dog and how she/he is acting.
