[Update, March 2, 10:44 a.m.] The Krewe of Highland has announced the parade will begin at 1 p.m.

[Original Story] The Krewe of Highland's Mardi Gras parade on Sunday, March 2 could end up rolling out 1-2 hours earlier than usual due to the possibility of rain.

Highland planned to start its annual Shreveport parade at 2 p.m., but is now urging float drivers to arrive an hour earlier than usual. The parade could end up rolling at noon or 1 p.m.

According to the Krewe of Highland:

The drivers of floats coming from the Centaur's den need to be at the Den by 6:00 AM. Our police escort to the staging area will leave at 7:00 AM. Drivers who are not there in time will get left behind, so please relay this to your driver.

The Krewe is also urging all other floats, vehicles and parade entries to be at the Fern Ave. staging area between 9 and 10 a.m.

As of press time, Shreveport's weather forecast for March 2 calls for showers in the morning, with thunderstorms in the afternoon.
