Lionsgate’s adaptation of the popular YA dystopian sci-fi Chaos Walking is gaining steam, and has been steadily adding actors for the last few months. Tom Holland and Daisy Ridley will be playing the two leads, and last month Mads Mikkelsen was in talks for the villain role (surprise, surprise). Today, Sons of Anarchy’s Kurt Sutter has joined the supporting cast.

Deadline reports that Sutter will play the father figure to Holland’s character Todd: “Sutter will play Cillian, a tough farmer who adopted Todd at a very young age. Although they have a volatile relationship, Cillian makes the ultimate sacrifice to keep Todd safe.” Sounds like we shouldn’t hope to see Sutter in too much of this movie.

Chaos Walking takes place on a colony planet called New World whose inhabitants have been inflicted by a virus called “The Noise,” which has the ability to make people hear and see the thoughts of themselves and everyone around them. The main character Todd discovers a girl (Ridley) who somehow has the ability to potentially rid his world of the Noise, and the two of them go on an adventure across their mysterious home planet. The series by Patrick Ness is composed of three books: The Knife of Never Letting Go, The Ask and the Answer, and Monsters of Men, which won the 2011 Carnegie Medal.
