Cher just tweeted about ‘The Greatest Thing,’ her much-ballyhooed duet with Lady Gaga, and it seems that the song will drop in October. We think. Cher’s tweets are written in a language all her own and it’s one that is not easily discernible. But from what we can piece together based on the diva’s tweets, it’s a’coming!

First, Cher tweeted that Gaga is both a major talent and that her vocals are amazing. This, we already know. But to hear it from a legend like Cher is just another affirmation that Gaga is indeed a talent unlike any other.

The song was rumored to drop last fall, but we’ve seen neither hide nor hair of it since. Gaga did reveal how the duet came to be, telling MTV, “I wrote that song a long time ago, and I’ve never put it on one of my own albums, for really no particular reason. I always write these concept records, and it just didn’t fit in. But it’s always been this big, massive, beautiful hit record and everyone always says, ‘Why don’t you put that on your album?’ I said, ‘I don’t know, it just doesn’t fit with everything else.’”

Enter Cher.

When she heard the song, Cher “loved it and wanted to do it together. And I said, ‘’F— yeah, it’s Cher!,’ according to Ma Monster.

Below is Cher’s first tweet about the song. She said she it heard it for the first time the other night and freaked. Way to rub it in!

She then teased a little more info, admitting she can’t reveal any key details since her record label execs will get ticked off, but she did mention that the single will drop in October and then her album will land at retail closer to Christmas. Access Hollywood mused that the Gaga duet will indeed be the first track we hear and it stands to reason that it’ll be the song we’re enjoying in just about two months or so. Below is Cher’s second cryptic tweet.
