"NCIS Los Angeles" star LL Cool J got a chance to play real-life hero Wednesday morning when he caught a burglar in his Studio City, CA home.

The rapper-actor's daughter called 911 and told police that her father was holding a suspected burglar downstairs.

LAPD Sgt. Frank Preciado said, "A physical altercation occurred between the suspect and the victim, James Todd Smith, also known professionally as LL Cool J. My understanding is he just had him in custody with his physical strength."

The 58-year-old suspect, who appeared to be homeless, was hospitalized and was expected to be arrested on suspicion of burglary. The actual extent of his injuries is unknown.
