The December 10th runoff for the 4th Congressional seat will feature Democratic Attorney Marshall Jones against Republican State Representative Mike Johnson. With Congressman John Fleming making a run for a U.S. Senate seat, the field was packed with men who wanted to replace him in the house to represent the 4th District. Jones grabbed 28% of the vote; while Johnson got 25%.

Seven candidates battled for the open seat. The contenders are listed below.

The candidates are as follows: Marshall Jones (D), Trey Baucum (R), Elbert Guillory (R), Oliver Jenkins (R), Rick John (R), Mike Johnson (R), and Mark Halverson (I).

After a bitter battle with attack ads and plenty of barbs thrown, Johnson who says he is the most conservative in the field will meet the Democrat, Jones in the runoff. This sets the stage for a month of divisive campaigning with the line in the sand clearly drawn. This race will likely be decided by the moderate voters.
