Louisiana Film Prize Hosts Huge Party, Announces Top 20 Film Finalists
Hundreds and hundreds gathered for a tequila-induced night where dreams come true.
Robinson Film Center was buzzing last night as hundreds of filmmakers, sponsors, judges, and fans gathered to hear the Top 20 announcement. 20 films were selected out of 125 entries to compete in this year's Louisiana Film Prize Festival. Those coveted films will be shown and voted on by the public before one is crowned champion and awarded $50,000.
Sounds ludicrous, but it's the genius work of Gregory Kallenberg.
The Prize has been in Shreveport since 2012 and has brought millions of dollars in revenue to Northwest Louisiana. Filmmakers from all over the country make their pilgrimage to our region to make a film, in the hopes of becoming $50K richer. The one rule is that your film must be shot in Northwest Louisiana.
Last night, we learned which films took one giant step toward that prize.
