A redshirt-Freshman will get the nod under center for the Bulldogs instead of slated starter Ryan Higgins. But this isn't based on performance, and might actually only last for a play, or a series. This is a punishment. Here are the details from the Louisiana Radio Network:

"Louisiana Tech Head Football Coach Skip Holtz said today that redshirt freshman J’mar Smith will start at quarterback when the Bulldogs visit Arkansas on Saturday. Smith was a three-star recruit coming out of Mississippi and he’s filling in for Ryan Higgins, who will not start, after he was arrested on D-W-I charge right before the start of preseason camp."
