Louisiana Town’s Only City Employee Quits

I've heard of government shut downs due to political tomfoolery that led to a lack of funding - but what is happening in the Livingston Parish town of Killian is a first for me.  According to NOLA.com, the town's government was already running on a skeleton crew - but after the recent high-profile quitting by the city's only employee, it's more like a ghost town hall.

Town Clerk Julie Monteleone announced that she would be leaving her job immediately in a during a two-hour Board of Aldermen meeting on Tuesday.  Monteleone said that she is leaving because she was, "embarrassed to remain in her position."  The clerk pointed to the constant bickering by Mayor Peter Bock and Alderman Gillis Windham as the reason for the division in the town and the reason she was vacating her position.

According to the Livingston Parish News, Monteleone had been the town clerk since 2016, and her resignation effectively shuts down the city's government until a replacement can be found.
