LSU’s Tiger Stadium Is Voted Best in the SEC

Big news for LSU fans. Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge has been voted as the best college football stadium in the Southeastern Conference.

8 of the 12 experts voting in this survey chose Tiger Stadium as tops. Only Georgia got more than one first-place vote. Here’s what the voters were considering: atmosphere, fan support, home-field advantage, amenities, tailgating, the campus and the town all play a role in the rankings.

Athlon Sports polled 12 SEC experts and asked them to rank their favorite SEC stadiums based on all of the above factors.

1. Tiger Stadium, LSU

Opened: 1924 Capacity: 100,000
This is a magical place. You will get chills once or twice while attending a game in Baton Rouge. It’s one of the loudest and craziest football homes in the country. Many opponents dread coming to our state to play.

2. Kyle Field, Texas A&M
Opened: 1904 Capacity: 102,500

Kyle Field is another rowdy place to play football. It’s getting a $450 million facelift that will be finished for the 2015 season. It’s know as the home of the 12th Man and the fans take that serious.

3. Sanford Stadium, Georgia
Opened: 1929 Capacity: 92,746
This is a gorgeous stadium and is filled with plush vegetation lining the field. The student section is perhaps the best place for students to catch a game.

4. Neyland Stadium, Tennessee
Opened: 1921 Capacity: 102,455

This is the largest capacity stadium in the SEC and it has double-deck, totally enclosed seating which makes it a really loud environment.

5. Bryant-Denny Stadium, Alabama

Opened: 1929 Capacity: 101,821

The home of the Crimson Tide is a tough place to play. Fans are loud and vocal for almost every game.
