The day has finally come. Lyft is now active in Shreveport.

As of roughly 12pm today, on Friday the 13th of all days, Lyft went active in the Shreveport area. If you have the app downloaded on your phone, you can now call for Lyft service with standard Lyft, or Lyft Plus, which is a larger vehicle.

The Lyft website has more information for riders, and also has information for those interested in becoming drivers.

There has been no word from Uber since the Shreveport City Council voted to amend their policy on vehicles for hire. That vote was a 6-0 unanimous decision, but fell short of some last minute demands that Uber made.

However Lyft never made, or agreed, to the last minute demands Uber made. Which created the expectation that Lyft would activate in the city soon, and we didn't have to wait long.

There's currently no word on what Bossier City's plans are for the service.
