Madonna Partly Nude Picture for Sale

Madonna has always been a fan of showing off her birthday suit, so it’s no surprise that a “vintage” semi-nude photo of the trim and toned pop diva is going on the auction block. An iconic, black and white image of Madge, totally nude, save for a sheet that covers her nether regions, is being auctioned by Bonham’s in NYC on May 8. Hang that in your living room and you’ll have an instant conversation starter! Not much is left to the imagination, that’s for sure.

The Steven Meisel image features the Material Girl flashing her twins, with full, curly Marilyn Monroe-style hair while smoking, which she just said she abhors! She is staring directly into the camera, pretty much oozing sex. The photo was reportedly intended for ‘Sex,’ the now out of print photo book the singer issued in 1992. Wow, has it been 20 years? This image is straight for her provocateur years, before she was writing children’s books (remember ‘The English Roses’) or had four kids.

Sale room employee Judith Eurich commented on the cultural significance — well, the pop cultural significance of the image, saying, “This is an absolutely stunning image and it is just a beautiful tone of grey. It is not just black and white; it is grey and silvery. Madonna was posing for a number of photographers at the time this was taken in the 1990s when she was in her early 30s.”

Eurich also speculated that Madonna isn’t really inhaling in this image, either, saying, “She is a very healthy person and I’d imagine the cigarette is just a prop to make her look sexy and sultry.” Let’s not even go there in terms of that slippery slope argument.

This should be a hot item on the block, since “there are Madonna superfans and devotees across the world who would love to own it,” Eurich said. Early estimates indicate it could fetch around $10,000.
