NBC aired the lighting of the Rockefeller Christmas tree last night in New York City. Mariah Carey was one of the featured performers for the show.

She sang "All I Want for Christmas is You" and I want you to know... It was really really bad.

Like, if you closed your eyes and listened, you would think it was a wannabe singer auditioning for American Idol. I definitely want to give Mariah props though for actually singing, instead of lipping the song over a pre-recorded track. Maybe this performance is why so many artist do that these days...

What makes matters worse, NBC actually wanted to tape the segment the night before! Apparently she kept everyone waiting around for 3 hours on Tuesday, so after waiting they decided to do it live.

Mariah later took to Twitter to apologize. She tweeted the performance was "beyond my control.  I apologize to all that showed up, you know that I would never want to disappoint you."

Here's the footage.
