TMZ reports that Melissa McCarthy has had an extra removed from the set of her new film "Tammy", her directorial debut.

According to TMZ, McCarthy witnessed the female extra "harshly" grabbing her child on the set, which pushed McCarthy to take deal with the situation. McCarthy's reps have yet to comment.

"Tammy" is a pet project for McCarthy, who co-directed and co-wrote the film with husband Ben Falcone. Susan Sarandon co-stars as McCarthy's grandmother who she's forced to take a road trip with. “They both have their issues they’re not acknowledging and they’re leaving town without knowing where they’re going," McCarthy tells EW.com. "I love that there’s something that happens in a car with people where all bets off. You're off your rhythm, off your schedule, you're forced to be completely adaptable or die."

"Tammy" is set for release on July 2 of next year.
