Jay-Z Called Miley Cyrus a ‘Living Legend’ in His Epic Twitter Q+A, And She Took It Way Too Literally

Jay-Z had a rare but rewarding Twitter chat yesterday to answer questions about his most recent opus, ‘Magna Carta Holy Grail.’ Not too surprisingly, a lot of those questions centered around his Miley Cyrus shoutout in ‘Somewhere in America’ — something that made Cyrus, who insists that she listens to “hood music,” really proud.

Hov, whose track includes the lyrics “‘Cause somewhere in America / Miley Cyrus is still twerkin’, ha! / Twerk, twerk, twerk, twerk / Twerk, Miley, Miley, twerk / Twerk, Twerk, Miley, Miley, Miley, twerk / Twerk, yeah, uh-huh / Twerk, Miley, Miley, Miley / Only in America,” broke his Twitter silence to chat about his new record, and, of course, everyone’s favorite self-proclaimed Lil’ Kim reincarnation.

For the uninitiated, Jigga is essentially saying that the fair-skinned Cyrus would scare the living daylights out of prior generations because of her cultural appropriation of hip-hop — which is stereotypically looped in with “hood” behavior and, well, blackness. Simply put: Would your white grandparents in Mississippi appreciate you twerking alongside Lil Twist? No? Same idea.

Other theories speculate that Cyrus represents white girls — and “white girls,” which is slang for cocaine. Considering her latest hit, ‘We Can’t Stop’ (which, in fairness, she didn’t write) boasts of “trying to get a line in the bathroom,” nothing would shock us.

Cyrus, either adorably oblivious or just floating along a river in Egypt, was defiant and proud of her new street cred.

Other subjects Hov touched upon in his chat?

His favorite cereal:

Elephant poaching:

Fulfilling fans’ needs:

The gentrification of his hometown of Brooklyn, N.Y.:

His favorite films:

He’s culturally sensitive/knows how to make an umlaut:

His struggle:

His life advice:

And promises of things to come:

We were, however, bummed that he didn’t respond to our questions — but maybe next time:

So yeah, Miley, we’re a little jealous that you got a shoutout and a tweet. But that doesn’t mean you have a badonkadonk or twerking skills, so please, take several seats.
