Despite the few hours respite our area had this afternoon from the rain, the Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office has announced mandatory evacuations for two more subdivisions in Bossier, plus the area immediately around Louisiana Downs.

The two subdivisions are Golden Meadows and Southgate, south of Robert E. Lee Boulevard in south Bossier.

These areas join neighborhoods that are already under evacuation. The current list is as follows:

Brookhaven
Carriage Oaks
Dogwood South
Golden Meadows
Lafayette Park
Richmond Cove
Southgate
Stockwell Place
Stonebridge
Tiburon
Victorian Pointe

Officials warn that Red Chute Bayou north of I-20 is continuing to rise and they anticipate the levees will likely overflow by tomorrow (Friday) morning.

Sources have reported that hotel reservations locally are hard to find. Multiple shelters have been opened, including one by the American Red Cross at the Bossier Civic Center for anyone is displaced.

Here are the shelters that we are aware of that are open at this time:

American Red Cross, Bossier Civic Center, 620 Benton Road, Bossier City, LA
American Red Cross, 805 Brookhollow Drive, Shreveport, LA
American Red Cross, Southern University-Shreveport gymnasium
First United Methodist, 903 Broadway Street, Minden, LA
Martin Luther King Recreation Center, 660 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Natchitoches, LA

Some items that the Red Cross suggests you bring with you include:

Supplies needed for children and infants, such as diapers, formula and toys

Chargers for any electronic devices you bring with you
Books, games and other ways to entertain your family and yourself
Public health regulations do not permit pets in shelters; service animals are permitted.
