PepsiCo, parent company of Mountain Dew, has cut ties with rapper Lil Wayne over a lyric featured in a song by Future entitled "Karate Chop".

The lyric in question refers to slain civil rights icon Emmett Till, for which the rapper has apologized to Till's family.

A spokesperson for Mountain Dew told E! News, "We do not plan any additional work with Lil Wayne moving forward. His offensive reference to a revered civil rights icon does not reflect the values of our brand."

Earlier this week, the soft drink brand yanked an ad by another rapper, Tyler the Creator, for alleged racist and sexist overtones.
