Residents showed up in force to oppose the zoning change for land on Airline Drive at Wemple Road to make way for a Walmart Supercenter. More than 2000 residents have signed a petition trying to keep the retail giant out of the area. Residents have concern about traffic, the planned 24 hour operating hours and property values. They still want answers from Walmart before the project moves forward.

Here's some of the video from the meeting Victoria Shirley from KSLA shared on her Facebook page:

MPC members asked Walmart representatives to find out if there are some things the corporate giant could do to ease some of these concerns. Walmart folks agreed to check with HQ and report back at the next meeting.

The Bossier City Council is working on another proposal to annex the land to make way for the Walmart. That could happen next week.

The residents are still keeping up the fight with a sign campaign and a Facebook page.
