Mudbug Madness and crawfish are a tradition in the SBC. We’re bringing you something a little new to mix in this year, New Hollow.
Join K945 Friday, May 23 at the Swamp Stage for a show you won’t forget. New Hollow will take the stage at 3 p.m. It’s free to get into the gates until 5 p.m. today, so we’ll see you there!
A pop rock band from New Albany, Ohio, New Hollow is composed of Michael “Mookie” Clouse, Evan West, and Chad Blashford. The three grew up together and decided to pursue music while attending New Albany High School.
In November 2010, they released their first single “SiCK” which sold over 28,000 physical copies in its first week. That same month they performed the Star-Spangled Banner at the Dallas Cowboys and New Orleans Saints game on Thanksgiving Day.
Since then, they never looked back.
Each of their first three singles climbed to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Sales Chart. They released their fourth single, “She Ain’t You” on July 3, 2013. In January, New Hollow signed a multi-album recording contract with LA Reid and Epic Records.
A tradition that began in 1984, Mudbug Madness will take over Festival Plaza in downtown Shreveport May 22-25. The four day festival celebrates Louisiana crawfish and cuisine, while providing entertainment and activities for all who attend.
Mudbug Madness is always held on Memorial Day weekend and has been nationally recognized as one of the Southeast Tourism Society’s Top 20 Events. The festival has been known to draw as many at 56,000 people in one day.
However, it’s more than just a huge crawfish boil.
It’s an investment in other downtown endeavors. Downtown Shreveport Unlimited is the presenting organization. They provide sponsorship money to other projects and events like; “Let the Good Times Roll”, “Jazz & Gumbo Festival”, “Cinco de Mayo”, “Rockets Over the Red” and the Shreveport Police Mounted Patrol Unit.
