The Demons are coming off their first Southland Conference road win since 2012, and the first since Jay Thomas has taken over the program. NSU won 34-10 over Southland newcomer Abilene Christian last Saturday. This weekend, NSU will take on NSU. That's Northwestern State versus Nicholls State, in the "NSU Challenge."

The Demons are now 5-5 on the season, 4-3 in SLC play, and have a chance to make the FCS playoffs if they can win out.

I asked Demon Head Coach Jay Thomas about the big win over Abilene Christian, a win he described as "a total team effort."  Coach Thomas also talked about the rivalry between Nicholls and Northwestern State.  He has a unique perspective having been head coach for both programs and even hinted that for a long time it meant more to the Colonels than it did to the Demons.

Demon Head Coach Jay Thomas speaks every Thursday at the NSU Demon Quarterback Club Luncheon at Superior Steakhouse at noon.  The Luncheon is open to fans, alumni and media.

Northwestern State takes on Nicholls State Saturday at 6 p.m.  Pregame coverage from the Demon Sports Radio Network starts at 5:30 p.m. on News Radio 710 KEEL, your radio home for Demon Football.
