Operation Christmas Child is the largest Christmas project of it's kind... So what's it all about? Operation Christmas Child brings people and volunteers together to collect an expected 30,000 gift-filled shoe boxes packed by caring area residents that are then distributed to children around the world!

If you're looking for a Christmas project for your family or your youth organization, I can't imagine one more deserving!

Here's more about Operation Christmas Child's local efforts from spokeswoman Beth Politz:

BOSSIER CITY, La., Nov. 17, 2014—With holiday supplies already covering the store shelves, Bossier City individuals, families, churches and groups are working to make Christmas a reality for needy kids around the world by filling shoe boxes with toys, school supplies, hygiene items and notes of encouragement. Operation Christmas Child, the world’s largest Christmas project of its kind, is ramping up as Bossier City residents prepare to collect 30,000 gift-filled shoe boxes during National Collection Week (Nov. 17-24).

At this local collection site in the Bossier City area, anyone can drop off a gift-filled shoe box to send to a child overseas. Then using whatever means necessary—trucks, trains, boats, bikes and even elephants—the shoe box gifts will be delivered to children worldwide. For many children, the shoe box gift will be the first gift they have ever received.

National Collection Week for gift-filled shoe boxes is Nov. 17-24; however, shoe box gifts are collected all year at the Samaritan’s Purse headquarters in Boone, N.C. Participants can also build a box through an online tool offering a personalized and convenient way to send a gift to a child in one of the hardest-to-reach countries.
