I was surrounded by law enforcement earlier this week, it was a good thing. I was able to see Operation Santa Claus in action, with some of the most precious kids and some of the most wonderful law enforcement officials this week. Children from a local pre-school were able to meet Santa and walked home with a present. Santa showed up with Shreveport Firefighters and their firetruck and were escorted by Shreveport Police Officers. Operation Santa Claus was founded in 1984 when several folks realized many people in our community were falling on hard times and their kids weren't able to enjoy Christmas like many other kids in the community. Shreveport Fire Department, Shreveport Police Department, Bossier Sheriff’s Office and Townsquare Media continues to bring the Merry to several kids here in the SBC come Christmas time.

In many cases the Operation Santa Claus gifts are the only gifts that these children receive. If you are a local, you've probably seen the impact that this wonderful organization has had in our community. If you want to donate and unwrapped toy you can do so over the course of the next couple weeks.
