The folks who ended up leaving their animals behind during the wake of Hurricane Irma could be facing criminal charges, according to Yahoo News. The animal control in Florida says that they plan on prosecuting the people who left their animals to fend for themselves.

I could never imagine leaving my animals behind during something like this, but people do crazy things during a state of emergency. Yahoo News reports that the ASPCA rescued over 600 animals in Florida, Georgia and South Carolina since Hurricane Irma hit the East Coast.

I have seen videos of animals tied to posts and left in fences. I specifically remember seeing a video out of Houston where a group of folks rescued a dog that was left in his crate during the flooding. Again, I couldn't imagine leaving behind either of my boys (cat and dog).
