October is here, which means it's time for some scary movies and trailers. While the remake of Halloween is on the radar for horror fans this month, a new trailer for an updated version of Pet Sematary was released today. Watch it in the player above.

Pet Sematary is based on the 1983 Steven King book about a family that moves to the country. "Louis Creed," his wife, two children and cat are welcomed into their new home by a neighbor who warns them of the eerie 'Pet Sematary' located near their home. After their cat is killed by a speeding truck, Creed decides to bury the cat in the mysterious cemetery. The cat returns to life but has changed... for the worse.

The film is the remake of the 1989 film of the same name, which spawned a 1992 sequel. The Ramones wrote the song "Pet Sematary" for the original film's soundtrack, which also appears on their 1989 effort Brain Drain. It became a hit for the band and was a staple of their live shows through the '90s.

Pet Sematary stars John Lithgow, Jason Clarke and Amy Seimetz and is being directed by Kevin Kolsh and Dennis Widmver, best known for their 2014 thriller Starry Eyes. The movie will be in theaters April 5.
